  • Goal.

Life is funny. You get inspirations at the most random time about the most random things.

While putting together a semi-decent schedule of sorts for Oliver's two day visit to Kingston and researching the 1000 Island region, I decided on a goal of sorts for myself. I'm not much of a spontaneous person as sad as that is for me to admit - since I wish I am. But this summer, between conversations with Chris about his envy-worthy traveling agenda, and living on my own for the first time - I think (and I say think because some remnants of my worrywart personality still clings on relentlessly...) I can dare to dream, and make (gasp) traveling plans.

Before I leave Kingston and finish undergrad at Queen's, I'm going to get my driver's license (haha I know. I haven't even taken the written test yet), rent a car, and take a road trip to NYC (and maybe Boston too) via the Wolfe Island Ferries. It's only about an hour from Kingston ferry terminal to Cape Vincent of New York. Then from there, it's a five hour drive to downtown New York.

To most, this is probably like. huh...that's not spontaneous at all! But I've always been pretty unexciting in terms of traveling, and typically let someone else lead any trip I take (since I have no sense of direction). Yet, I've always wanted to take a road trip. Somewhere. Anywhere. And I've always wanted to go to New York but felt hindered by long bus rides and/or airplanes trips. Soooo...the ferry seems like a good alternative.

Besides, this is a good motivating factor for me to get my G1 (pass my written test). I've been kind of putting it off.

  • I'm missing summer.
Actually..more like summer weather. It's actually getting kind of chilly over here in Kingston; a nice preview for the winter I suppose. It's so odd to be jogging in weather so cool that my ears hurt (though that doesn't happen anymore...you get use to it), and then around the corner, I see a gorgeous garden with summer flowers in full bloom.

Speaking of which, here is my new favourite flower: Rudbeckia alpicola (No I can't pronounce it, I got it from the ever reliable wikipedia...), showy coneflower, yellow daisies.

  • I dug up my EE sheet tonight after dinner.

Even if I did have it memorized, vocalizing it will require more courage, patience, and (I'm ashamed to say) love...then I may possess. It would be much simplier if she wasn't someone so close to me.

A quote in worship class really struck me. Paraphrased: If Christianity's foundation and utmost importance truly lie with Jesus dying on the cross for mankind, then every Christian should be doing anything and EVERYTHING in their power to save the people around them from ETERNAL DAMNATION. They should be travelling great lengths to spread the message, especially to close family and friends. Afterall, do you want to see your family in hell? But the Christians around most people are not fervent about their message at all. Thus, Christianity is void.

Correct me if I am wrong, but this was spoken by a non-Christian. (And I'm sure the original quote wasn't as lengthy)

I wonder if that's what she's thinking. I'm too easily intimidated by her supposedly logical philosophies. I don't even know what I'm afraid of. Failure? Making the situation worse? Unworthiness? I have Jesus behind me don't I?

It's all very complicated. I feel like I've regressed since missions class.

"May I ask you a question?..."

Just heads and hair I know...but it was the "crowded bus atmosphere" I was going for ^^

  • What a great start to our school year!

Thank you sponsors! For your patience, persistence and for waking up at 6:45 in the morning despite only 4 hours of sleep (!), for enduring crazy microphone arguments of the bus, for cookies and snacks, and for sticking with us for (almost) four years!

Thank you officers! For the great games, great food and great organizational skills. hehe. Had tons of fun roaming around Bethany and Leofoo with you guys...

I've never been so tired after a school trip before. But it's a refreshing type of exhaustion. Also, have you ever heard of having sore muscles after a day in an amusement park? Really weird muscles areas too, like my back and arms (did I even use those muscles yesterday?? All I did was wait in line. ha)...maybe it's from gripping the handles of Screaming Condor too hard, or having blood rush into my eyeballs (my eyes were bloodshot after the Ring of Fire!?) or laughing at other people's screeches or screaming myself...

Anyway. I felt like I was able to hang out and chat with a lot more classmates who use to be outside of my comfy niche this weekend ^^ Especially during Underground Church! I had ended up whispering with someone for fifteen minutes in the dark and then.."Wait, who's this??"

  • Free periods first and eighth = the final rewards after 11 years of schooling

But this last year is gonna be a challenge...

Can't wait to face it =)

Can't wait for the new (and old!) friendships to grow, for my endurance and stress level to be tested, for the thrill of going to college, for doing outrageous things just because it's my last year, for teas and cheesecake, for memories to overwhelm me, for final final exams (!), for all-nighters, hardships, and the exhilaration from knowing God held my hand through it all

Man, I make it sound like the year is already over. haha.
Nah. I've still got to finish my essays from the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!
I've just got a good feeling about this year that's all...

Still, best not to get ahead of myself =P

  • dear dear...the goofiness which only comes from the beginning of summer holidays. It was raining (nooo...POURING) that last day of junior year. But apparently the lousy weather didn't lessen our giddiness and enthusiasm for yearbook-signing in the Spanish room =)

    Skylark. Arcade. Go-carts....

...and Joseph's "birthday gelato"...which Ruby and I gobbled up!

Mom (and me) with her sunny umbrella in Taipei ^^

Fastforward a month: Today Rube, Liz (or "Jae" har har), me and Rube's two church friends, Christine and Chosen, hung out for the entire day...and night =P

They were an awesome pair. Outgoing, funny...they're both amazingly strong Christians ^^ Our time together was only a few hours long, but I left them feeling refreshed with a sense of fellowship and joy...thanks guys!

    Summer's (almost) over.

    I don't feel like a senior.

    But.

I am very ready to see everyone again!!

    =)

  • The dreaded Junior Year...
    ...is over!!
I'm so happy I can't believe it...But I actually kinda miss it too despite the turbulent workload...

Here's some snapshot memories for you all ^^

...LAST SUMMER!!..in Taipei. Thanks for letting us crash at your house Rube~

Planning the Junior carnival: I remember thinking..."this is impossible..." hehe. But we did it!!

Spirit week #1: uniforms in US History!

Random pic from youth group...I remember we played the trashcan game that night. Remember? Everyone had to hold hands while the dude that was "it" tried to separate us...Rock was so violent...haha. Liz got flipped in midair...literally! ouch.

hehe...our BOOTH Ruby!! thanks for returning the pool dearie...

Kidz Day. wheeeee...I scraped my arms on sliding down that thing...but it was fun! Gingerbread men...trying on the stuffy, sweaty mascot suits...passing ot lunchboxes...and of course...the essential element of any volunteering job: FREE T-SHIRTS..haha.

Wallaby-harassing...er...petting, in Australia during Christmas break.

This one's for you Carol ^^ It was a gorgeous place...despite all the topless sun-tanners and skin-killing ultraviolent rays...haha! jk la. I wanna go back...

    Suprise! Birthday girls...

    High school banquet...sophomore beauties.

    My "table-mates".

Second b-day celebration for Karen and Glore. um. I was hungry...

I think this was our fifth or sixth plate of those bottomless nachos.

    uh. no comment.

Elizabeth's debut!...and her cheering squad from youth group ^^

    GI-7 girls!!!

    Women in black...and...me?

    Everyone looked so perty =D

    Teresa...sharing dessert...doodling...food photography..hahaaa.

The phenomenal sky on our last Junior Bible study...

...and Issac telling me to take a picture of it. haha.

    CANADIANS!!!!!!!!!!...haaaaa! Kasey's looking shifty. lol.

So glad you all made it =P

Aw...we all sat in different corners of the room! But we had to unite for at least one picture!

My view from the sofa. What were you guys laughing at for that entire time?? ha.

The day of the end-of-the-year party: hanging with seniors *sniff* during VHS...

um. we were just goofing off...ethan's having a korea moment.

    Sheeeerrryyy....Jeeeeeennnn...visit!

    Another Sherry!!

Thanks for telling me that this was suppose to be a goofy picture...=_= hehe.

good job steph. You scared two people from that terrific hiding place...stop acting innocent!! hehe.

tee...and other yearbook-signers in the breezeway...

nat, "what are you doing? advertising nai-chas or something?" har har...

    "...I wanna do it too!"

Ruby was annoyed at our antics across the table..haha.

this was Nat's fourth try at "looking mad"...for her first three times, she looked like she was "fung dien". aw. you're too happy to look mad dear...

normal people sitting a few meters off from our goofy table.

...and finally...the LAST DAY OF EXAMS !!

Ruby! Oliver!...sorry we weren't able to hang out that day T_T...you guys were very much missed =)

liz: "OOOOHH...I always wanted to do these!!"

ahahaaa...this was at Mitsukoshi by the way. I think it was at their 10th floor (?) exhibition.

Eliz's trademark star...made out of a straw courtesy of Friday's...lol.

I think Liz was eyeing the plate of...

    ...grilled cheese dip....

Joy, on the other hand...was addicted to our...

    ...onion rings!!

this was before we got all bloated on food...
after the pic was taken...Joy browsed the menu and gasped "Dessert!! Who wants to have dessert first??"
hahahaaa...girl, you make me laugh when you're hyper...

Joy's and my view from across the table =_= haaaa.

I think we finished that huge brownie sundae in like five minutes ^^

At Sogo: the three of us requested balloons from Friday's after seeing a five-year-old get one before us. While Liz and I were at Working House..the little kids kept looking at our balloons...I think a kid even went up to Liz and asked her, with big googly eyes "Where did you get those balloons?" and then ran off to his mother asking for a balloon...lol. Liz, I think we made a lotta lil children cry that day. haha.

    -----

garrr...there are tons more but I just exceeded my storage limit..heh. I'll add them after clearing out the old photos =P

    ----

Anyway...it was a great year!! Thanks for making it memorable guys ^^
